Emma Fletcher of Fletcher by Lyell

Emma Fletcher's dreamy, vintage-inspired line, Lyell, has earned a devoted following among fashion lovers. We're
excited to partner with Emma for Fletcher by Lyell, especially because the collection has all the feminine, artistic
details she's known for. Here, she gives us a peek at her inspiration files and a collage she made for the line.

The Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie
by May Gibbs

The list is endless. This is a big influence on me. I wish I were a musician, but I have no talent in this area. I would narrow in down to:

Nick Cave
I fantasize about having another show, and Nick Cave playing live and it being on water. He has seen me through heart break.

Joni Mitchell

Bon Iver
My friend gave me the CD For Emma, Forever Ago because of my name, and I've been obsessed with it since.

Fleetwood Mac

Tom Waits

Not sure these are favorites, but there are ones that come to mind that had an affect on me at some point.

Breaking Away (1979)

Harold and Maude (1971)

All About Eve (1950)

The Hurt Locker—Best movie this year

American Movie (1999)

Manhattan (1979)

Charlotte Rampling
I think her looks are perfection, especially in the movie Three in 1969.

Freddie Mercury
Total legend: best dresser, singer, performer...

David Bowie
Very beautiful physically and so stylish and talented. I like him around the early '70s and in The Man Who Fell to Earth.

Julie Christie in Don't Look Now
She is a real women and I love every single outfit in this movie. Great movie.

Charlotte Gainsbourg and her mother, Jane Birkin
They are just cool.

Mia Farrow
Short hair. Pixie face.

Lauren Bacall
Perfect face for the style of the '30s and '40s movies she is in.

Mogador Cafe
Best breakfast. The quality hasn't changed a bit since I first went there, it's always amazing.

The National Arts Club
Where I had Lyell's one and only runway show.

The Chelsea Hotel
Specifically, my friends Gerald's apartment. He's lived there for 15 years and it's amazing, I shot my last two lookbooks there. The roof is amazing as well.

The Plaza Hotel
I went there one day with my son just before they renovated, everything was for sale. Every piece of furniture, mirror, fixture... Nobody was around. Very surreal. I haven't seen it since it's been renovated.

I would like my life to look like the
Madeleine Vionnet bedroom.
