• UO Happenings: Slingshot Festival

We're continuing our national UO Live tour, and this week are visiting the music city of Athens, GA for Slingshot Festival: taking place March 26-28, Slingshot takes over downtown Athens, spanning over five city blocks and hosting shows at dozens of local venues including music, art, and film from all over the world. No better time than now to check out one of our favorite music cities in the US!

For this year's Festival, UO is excited to be an official partner in Slingshot — meaning we'll be there in person to hang out and host some amazing music events. Read on for the full breakdown on what all we've got planned for Athens!

Slingshot has a really great lineup this year —you can see the full schedule and plan your weekend here...but first things first, a can't-miss setup is the one we'll be at (!), on Saturday, March 29 at the 40 Watt. We're so excited to host a night with the xx's Jamie XX (who by the way just premiered a new song that's been on regular rotation for us this week). Also high on our must-see list is the set by electronic musician Nosaj Thing — whose LA studio we visited last week to talk more about the set he'll be playing

We are also teaming up with the legendary Athens soul food restaurant Weaver D's for food for the night (The beloved spot was made famous in the 90s when R.E.M. named their album "Automatic For the People" after the restaurant's motto — read more about the restaurant here and get our recipes for some of their most-loved meals)

And finally, you knew hosting one party in Athens wasn't enough for us — Athens will be the next stop on our own UO Live tour, where we'll be hosting a special show at the Old Pal bar with a DIY cocktail-mixing class and a set by local musician Erin Lovett. Read more about Erin, and some of the other emerging Athens musicians on our radar here. We can't wait! See you in Georgia.
