    Created in collaboration with the Marley family, Marley Natural is a new line of body care products that carry on the ethos of the Marley name. Crafted from a blend of all-natural Jamaican botanicals, the new line features formulas derived from hemp seed oil, cold pressed from an extraction process to capture its purest benefits. We went behind the scenes to find out what goes in to each of Marley Natural’s products and learned a whole lot about a whole range of ingredients. 


    The ingredients found in the line have centuries-old medicinal uses, providing essential nutrients to promote healthier lifestyles. Hemp Seed Oil itself, also known as the oil of Cannabis Sativa, is particularly known for its moisturizing, non-greasy properties that promote skin health.

    You’re probably familiar with this one. Found throughout Central and Western Africa, Bitt kola, also known as Gardenia kola is the caffeinated fruit behind your favorite “cola”. The Kola nut are a large part of spiritual practices and in West Africa. In Jamaica, it is said to remove toxins from the body.

    There are numerous well-documented uses of ginger as a home remedy. From treating respiratory congestion to quelling headaches and calming motion sickness, ginger is used around the world, not just in your tea. 


    Greater Burdock
    The burdock root has medicinal uses that date back to the middle ages. Heavy in dietary fiber, calcium, and other elements, it’s become an essential part of many macrobiotic diets because of all the essential nutrients it provides. 


    Guinea Hen Weed
    Composed of different antioxidants, naturally occurring steroids, and sulfuric compounds, Guinea Hen Weed is used in Jamaica as part of herbal teas and can help the immune system stay strong. In the Amazon, where it is grown, healer use it to dissuade evil spirits and it has found its place throughout the world in both medicinal and magical uses. 


    Bitter Melon or Cerassee
    This edible fruit said to have originated in India is used throughout global cuisine. In Jamaica, it is used in crease tea, a popular home remedy that is considered a Jamaican staple and has been dubbed one of the “unofficial” national dishes of the island. It is used as part of a cleanse treatment to purge the body of impurities and promote good health. 


    Lemon Grass
    Also known as citronella grass, Lemon Grass is full of vitamins and minerals. The aromatic and delicious ingredient is found throughout many Asian culinary traditions. Additionally, its oil is found in soaps, insect repellants, and household disinfectants. 


    Tumeric 
    Turmeric comes from the root of the Curcuma long plant and is a staple in Chinese and Indian medicine traditions. It’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties make it particularly popular and it can also be used as a teeth whitener. Who knew?
