• DIY: Felt Freaks

Make your friends into felt for the holidays with a fuzzy DIY project from Andy Rementer and Margherita Urbani.

You'll Need: Pen or pencil, paper, scissors, colorful felt and a hot glue gun.

    1. Draw a simple portrait of a friend or invented character.  If you can, make some extra copies of each drawing.

    2. Cut out the character into simple shapes, while keeping in mind how the layers of felt will be assembled later.

    3. Place each piece of paper on the felt and cut out carefully with scissors.  For more complex shapes, place the paper reverse side up onto the felt and trace the outline with a pen.  This way, the outline will be on the reverse side of the assembled character.

    4. If you've never used a hot glue gun before, practice with some spare felt pieces first.  When you're ready, glue the cut out felt shapes of the character on top of each other following the original drawing.

    5. Now you have a Felt Freak!
