Hi Jessica! Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do.
I’m a 21-year-old student and stylist living in NYC. Right now I’m finishing up my degree in Advertising at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I fell into styling pretty organically when I first started school—this photographer I met online back when I was blogging moved to NYC and we started shooting tests for agencies, at first using only my own clothes. Since then, it’s evolved into styling for magazine editorials, lookbooks, e-commerce, and other fun projects. Right now I’m also interning at an artist management and production agency called Rep Limited, which is the field in which I’d eventually like to have a career.

Did you grow up in NYC or did you move there for school?
I grew up in Orange County, California, so I moved to NYC for school four years ago. One of my favorite parts about living in the city is the fast pace and the proximity of everything, whether it’s places or people. The fashion industry is paradoxically both a huge entity but also a very tight-knit community—I always find myself meeting people whom I have dozens of mutual friends with or run into people who know me from someone or somewhere, like Instagram. Networking is both fun and easy here!

Do you see yourself living anywhere else?
As much as I love California and its near perfect weather, I think the New York fashion industry suits me better. It would actually be great to be bi-coastal because I have a constant craving for In-N-Out and warmth.

Tell us a little bit about your morning routine.
The first thing I do in the morning is eat! I never understood why people skipped breakfast because I always wake up early enough to have a bowl of oatmeal and fruit with nut butter. After that I begin with a light cleansing wash. Then, I use my Missha Super Aqua toner, a few sprays of Innisfree green tea mineral mist, and then Tata Harper’s Boosted Contouring Serum. I don’t use foundation but my Missha Sun Milk SPF moisturizer does the trick! My friends will know that I never leave the house without my winged eyeliner, which I’ve learned to perfect over the last few years. Then I’ll finish with a spritz of Balenciaga B. or Diptyque’s L’ombre dans l’Eau.

What about when you're super busy with school/work – is there anything skincare or beauty related that you ALWAYS make time for?
My skincare routine isn’t too crazy so I make sure that I do it for both the day and night time everyday. Since I do wear eye makeup almost everyday, I make sure to carefully remove it (I’ve been using Yoshimomo’s micellar water) and then at least cleanse, tone, and moisturize. If my skin is feeling dry because of the weather, I usually put a face mask on at night!

Your skin is amazing! Is there a single product or skincare regimen that you attribute this to?
My skin fluctuates quite a lot but one thing I’ve noticed is that drinking green tea has really helped clear it up in many cases. I also really love Tatcha’s gentle and fragrance-free Rice Enzyme Powder, which I use to exfoliate about twice a week.

Do you have any other current holy grail products (skincare or makeup)?
I use a different moisturizer at night and Eve Lom’s Radiance Lift Cream has been so good for hydrating my skin in the cold. It’s not too thick or oily but I still feel moisturized even when I wake up the next day.

Are there any products you like to make sure you have on hand when you're on the go?
Lately, I haven’t been leaving the house without Lipstick Queen’s Frog Prince, a unique lip color that changes according to your pH level to give you the best shade for your complexion; I love that it customizes itself and mine ends up as a very sheer light cherry color.

What's one makeup or skincare tip that you find yourself following time and time again?
I’ve learned that a healthy lifestyle—whether in diet or exercise or overall day-to-day activities—is pretty much the key to maintaining what you have. Even though I get pretty stressed out balancing school, an internship, and freelancing and sometimes disregard eating healthy or working out, it usually comes around to bite me and then I know that I have to get back on track!

Are there any questionable makeup trends that you're hoping come back in style (aka Bath and Body Works glitter making a comeback, frosted blue eyeshadow, etc.)?
It’s funny because my mom has actually been wearing blue (like a deep sapphire, nothing too crazy) mascara recently and at first I was making fun of her but now I think it would be cool to try that. Actually, why haven’t I done that yet?

Finally, what's one thing you like to do when you want to relax or treat yourself?
I love baking and cooking, so I’d cook a nice meal for myself and then bake a dessert like peanut butter chocolate chip cookies or pumpkin muffins! I always experiment and bake a bunch and then give them out to my friends—it makes both them and me happy!
