Jason Nocito is a New York City photographer who is going gangbusters right now. He got early recognition for his "My Brothers House" images - teenage wild ones getting rowdy, getting stoned and getting laid - that ran in Tokion a few years back. Since then he's gone on to shoot for Vice, Dazed & Confused, The Fader and Nylon. He brought his gritty meets pretty aesthetic to our Late Fall catalog and we couldn't be more pleased with the results.
- UO: So how'd you get started?
- JN: I begged my brother to give me his camera in high school so I could take pictures of friends hanging out and getting stoned and going to hardcore shows.
- Who was your first client?
- Nylon Magazine.
- What's your fave subject matter to shoot?
- Lately? Rocks, trees, it's actually hard to say. It could be almost anything as long as it fits into what I'm trying to say.
- How did you hook up with your rep?
- I emailed her.
- How did you hook up with Urban Outfitters?
- They emailed me.
- Tell us a little about your experience shooting our Late Fall catalog.
- I had a blast. I think we all did. It's really important for me to have fun with things like this or else I feel like the days can become more drawn out then necessary.
- Are there any new jack photographers we should know about?
