What is your process for choosing materials?

Our process is that we use whatever we can find in abundance that fits our trend concepts each season.

Where do you find your materials?

We have a great network of suppliers (rag houses, vintage wholesalers, old stock fabric dealers) that source and collect raw materials for us.

Is it all deadstock or vintage?

It's a combination of both. We get lots of great deadstock jewelry but most of the apparel comes from recycled textiles.

What's your favorite Urban Renewal product, either past or current?

My current obsession is the Summer collection of "denim dolphin shorts" made from vintage Levi's jeans & a combination of cool trims. We're also making some awesome earrings from vintage leather jackets...

What will we see in the future for guys?

Lots of vests made from men's recycled suits from the 70s!

Can you tell us more about the Urban Renewal artist series collaborations?

Every few months we solicit our store employees and our customers to hand customize a vintage item, which we then offer for sale in the stores. It's a great opportunity for our friends and fans, as well as young artists and designers, to express themselves and get exposure.
