The Smell
Best music venue perhaps ever, with no hyperbole. All ages, no alcohol, run by kids, five bucks. The church of a community.

Skid Row
There is very little good about Skid Row. The densest homeless population in America represents the city like the Hollywood Hills.

Schwartz Bakery
The kosher bakery across the road from Family. I bumped into Leonard Cohen buying pastries there last week.

Soul Veg Restaurant
Situated on the second floor of an unassuming strip mall in Los Feliz, Soul Veg is another of the vegan chain started in Atlanta by Black Hebrews. Don't over-order because the servings are huge.
