What I'm Taking To Coachella: Vanessa
Name: Vanessa Nguyen
Location: Los Angeles
Occupation: OBEY Marketing
Have you been to Coachella before? If so, what's the best memory you have?
Yes! The best memory would have to be seeing Thom Yorke perform; he’s incredible to see live, especially out in the desert at sunset. He has such a unique, and musically forward sound—some say the experience was spiritual.
What are you most looking forward to about this year's festival?
Looking forward to seeing lots of great diverse music; Wu Tang Clan, Nick Cave, Beach House, Purity Ring, James Blake, 2Chainz and The Stone Roses. Also, the person-watching in general is pretty next level. People break out all kinds of wild fashion; I always look forward to it every year.
What are you packing and why?
The OBEY Joplin Romper is ideal because you don’t have to think about it too much. Top and bottom in one piece! Hats are always key to shade yourself from the desert sun, and while black might not be that practical, it looks good, right? Sunglasses are a must for everyday; it's nice to mix it up from my black go-to pair with these rose colored ones. My All Black ankle-strap sandals are also a staple, and these will take you from day to night.
This is definitely my go–to festival attire: my cut-off OBEY Junkie Moto tank and OBEY Leather and Lace jean shorts. These Vans SK8 high sneakers I always travel with. They’re classics and very practical. I’m obsessed with my OBEY Devil in Disguise Earrings, and I have to admit I almost always have the middle pair on.
Camo is a neutral for me and this OBEY Keegan top is a nice way to transition my fall camo right into spring. It also works really well with these OBEY Layla printed shorts. The cross body OBEY Dalia messenger bag will secure my supply of water, sunscreen and 5 chapstick / lip gloss variations. My Frye Engineer boots, while a part of my everyday LA wardrobe, also work with my festival getups. And not to forget the necessary shades! My Ksubi Rana oversized cat eye sunglasses are ones I can’t live without.
