• UO Interviews: New Year, New You

The new year is here, and it’s the ultimate reset button. We chatted with three creatives from Portland, Oregon about their goals for turning over a new leaf in 2016.

    Name: Ramón Coronado
Job: Founder / Creative Director of Public-Library
    Neighborhood: Portland, Oregon
    Astrological sign: Pices…?

My top 3 goals for 2016 are:
    1. More vacation time. It’s important to reflect and process.
    2. More time to work on personal projects that are not just “design” based. Want to continue to learn new traits.
    3. Make the studio a friendlier environment for friends to come hang.

What are you working on right now?
Currently working on workshops and a summer school program we will be launching in 2016. The program will be named Public-Studies and will become a large part of our studio.

My favorite recent discovery is: I recently discovered the magic of a foam roller. Sitting all day has taken toll on my back so I’m constantly searching for new ways to keep my back healthy. Great $10 investment.

Something I’ve always wanted to do is: I really want to base jump or skydive. I’m getting older, so might have to jump soon.
Somewhere I’ve always wanted to go is: Me gustaría conocer España.
Resolutions are for… I want to get better at keeping in contact with friends. Now that I’ve lived, worked and studied in multiple cities my group of friends has become larger and larger. This year I plan on reaching out more and making sure I’m in constant contact with all friends.
I predict the next big thing will be: No social media.
Currently on my mind: Tacos, because I’m writing this on my way to the motherland.

    Name: Parker Woods
    Job: Photographer
    Neighborhood: Nob Hill, Portland
    Astrological sign: Cancer

My 2016 goals are to get some photo jobs in Japan, to remember that you don’t have to wait for permission to do what you love, and to buy a raincoat

What are you working on right now? I’m working on a photographic portrait series and getting ready to release some of the first images through my website and social media. i’m ultimately looking to publish the project into a book by late 2017.

My favorite recent discovery is: I’ve been listening to the Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify for a few weeks now and it GETS me.

Something I’ve always wanted to do is go skydiving
Somewhere I’ve always wanted to go is Iceland
    Resolutions are for… dinguses
I predict the next big thing will be: No doubt in my mind that the next big thing will be a buffet style restaurant that only serves cereal— currently making the Kickstarter.
Currently on my mind: Wondering if my Uber driver genuinely couldn’t hear me when I asked if he could turn the music down...

    Neighborhood: Southwest PDX
    Astrological sign: Libra

My top 3 goals for 2016 are to be more deliberate and considerate with everything I do, to work on mitigating my hoarding situation, and to focus on creating more art and giving them away or selling it.

What are you working on right now? I just finished editing and repurposing Busta Rhyme's most recent mixtape cover. Upcoming project will be Thug Luv vol. 2, a mix of classic rap love odes set to release Valentine's Day.

My favorite recent discovery is that a space exploration company was able to rocket launch satellites into space and successfully land them back to Earth marking huge progress in space exploration. Essentially, if you can reuse a rocket it will make things much cheaper as everything is a one and done deal so far.

Something I’ve always wanted to do is operate a submarine and man the periscope.
Somewhere I’ve always wanted to go is to the moon and watch the earth set.
Resolutions are for...people who want to make a change in their life for the better. Why not start today instead of a new year?
I predict the next big thing will be: Hunting and fishing gear-inspired clothing. It's like bucket hats part two.
Currently on my mind: The world is crazy right now trying to stay on my P.M.A.
