• Tips + Tricks: Cold Weather Beauty

When it comes to the weather getting colder, there's one thing that's always a killer: dry skin. If you're trying to keep your face from looking like a scaly iguana's back this winter, never fear. We're right there with you, and we have some tips for fighting off dull winter skin.

First of all, it's important to use a gentle scrub on your skin every so often in the winter to get rid of any dead skin, but make sure you don't overdo it or you'll just make your skin even drier. Using a scrub once or twice a week should do the trick. (Any more than that and your skin might start to hate you, but skin's sensitivity varies person to person.) Once you've used a scrub, make sure to moisturize every inch of your body once you step out of the shower - that'll help lock in moisture and keep your skin feeling extra smooth. We personally love Egyptian Magic because it can be used anywhere and a little bit goes a loooong way. The texture of this one is different from normal lotions (check the reviews and picture below), which makes it a great overnight, winter moisturizer. We like to put it on right before bed so we can wake up with glowing, smooth skin.

Lately, we've also been diving into the "honey as skincare" movement. (Thank you, Pinterest.) A mix of organic honey, plus a dash of coconut oil and brown sugar makes for a natural, hydrating scrub that's surprisingly not as sticky as you'd imagine, and is easy to make at home. There are also some great honey-based face masks and shampoos you can spend your cash on if you don't feel like putting in that DIY effort.

If all else fails and you're still feeling scaly, just immerse yourself in a giant, oil-filled bathtub. Soaking in a nice bath oil will help keep your skin softer longer since oil will last longer on your skin. Even if you can't banish the dry skin completely, at least you'll smell amazing. Another way to make sure that your skin retains moisture is by sleeping with a humidifier. It's a more costly option, but will make your skin and throat feel better by keeping that winter dryness out of the air.

And of course, when in doubt, moisturize! Everywhere! Your skin will love you for any extra moisture in the cold months, so all the lotion and chapstick you can get your hands on will really go a long way.
