We reached out to some of our favorite people to find out what is on their wish lists this year. Here, fashion blogger Susie Bubble tells us about the best and worst gifts she's ever received.
My name is Susie Lau aka Susie Bubble. I'm a fashion blogger-slash-journalist-slash-consultant-slash-baker. A lot of slashes as befits a modern 21st century woman. I live in London and I am extremely patriotic about London. Don't say a bad word about London! Please note that when I'm talking about the holidays, I mean Christmas. I don't celebrate Thanksgiving.
What do you love/loathe most about the holidays? I love the get together time with my family. That's the thing I also loathe too. I have three sisters. It can get too estrogen heavy in my house.
What’s your gift-giving style? Personalized presents, or a Starbucks card for everyone? PERSONALISED all the way! I put a lot of effort into my presents for people from the gift itself to the wrapping and the way it's presented.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? It's going to sound terribly materialistic but the Miu Miu bag that my boyfriend gave me two years ago was pretty special. He did say that subsequently I'd be getting a potato on birthdays thereafter because of how expensive it was.
What’s the worst gift you’ve ever received? Boots soap. Boots is like our version of Walgreens or Duane Reade. It would have been nice if the brand of soap was nicer. Boots' own brand?!
If you could ask for anything this year (and money is no object) what would you ask for? A perfect Christmas where NOTHING goes wrong food-wise in my parents' house. Every year, there's always a food disaster.
What is your favorite holiday tradition that you share with friends or family? We don't have too many "traditions." The gist of the Christmas holiday is to eat as much as humanly possible. Is that a tradition?
What’s your favorite holiday snack or food? It's not very homemade but Ferrero Rocher chocolate always makes me think of Christmas. My mum buys boxes and boxes of them and me and my sisters watch TV, eating the chocolates layer by layer.
Without looking it up, what are the ingredients in eggnog? Errr…. egg? Some kind of rum? Cream? I tried it once and I hated it. I'm not into cream-based alcoholic drinks.
Any idea how you will spend New Year’s Eve this year? No plans yet. I go either way—civilised and quiet or crazy and messy. Not sure what I'm going for this year.
If you could be any character from a holiday movie, who would you be and why? The boy in The Snowman. It's a British tradition to watch this animated film as it's ALWAYS on TV every year without fail. It's excruciatingly sad when the snowman melts, but for one night only, that boy has so much fun!
If you could plant a New Year’s kiss on your dream crush, who would that be and why? No dream crush but a kiss for my longtime boyfriend would be more than adequate.
What was your proudest moment from this past year? Doing my first half marathon which I did in October in San Francisco. It's now completely changed my attitude towards running.
What are you looking forward to most about 2013? Running more! Looking to do more half marathons and work my way up to the full!
