The UO Nice List: Sh*t Girls Say

Meet Kyle and Graydon—former UO employees and creators of the Sh*t Girls Say phenomenon and book.  It might be too early to judge, but their plans for next year are our favorite ones so far.

Introduce yourselves!
Hi! We are Kyle Humphrey and Graydon Sheppard, and we created Sh*t Girls Say.

What do you love/loathe most about the holidays?
GS: I love eggnog milkshakes. They’re so disgusting but so good. I loathe the guilt-trips from family about visiting.
KH: I am obsessed with vintage holiday ornaments and lights. I’m not a huge fan of LED string lights, I find them so irritating.

What’s your gift-giving style? Personalized presents, or a Starbucks card for everyone?
GS:
My family only buys presents for my nieces and nephews (all under 4 years old), so I usually just buy a few things and let the kids fight it out.
KH: I’m a really terrible gift-giver because I just want people to tell me what they want to so I can give them exactly that.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
GS:
Kyle ordered my favorite cologne (that I hadn’t actually owned since we met, I just mentioned it once) from New York and had it shipped up to Canada for me last year.
KH: Graydon gave me a Best Made axe, which came in the longest, weirdest box, it was such a great surprise. Any Lego set I ever got is probably one of the best gifts as well.

What’s the worst gift you’ve ever received?
GS:
When I was about 13 my dad gave me a pink and turquoise girl’s electronic diary. I secretly loved it but I was totally mortified that my attempts at projecting masculinity to hide my girlyness had failed.
KH: As a kid, anything that wasn’t Lego.

If you could ask for anything this year (and money is no object) what would you ask for?
GS:
A trip to the W Hotel in Maldives for a month and a lot of tranquilizers for the plane rides there and back.
KH: A cabin in the woods. And a DVD of Cabin in the Woods, I love that movie. And world peace?

What is your favorite holiday tradition that you share with friends or family?
KH:
My family plays this game called Dutch Blitz. Or at least we played a lot of it one Christmas, so now every year we try to play it again like we used to but it’s kind of boring.
GS: We do family Christmas about a week after the real Christmas so that it’s less stressful.

What’s your favorite holiday snack or food?
GS:
Um, hi… eggnog milkshakes.
KH: Stuffing. I love stuffing. It’s food cooked inside of another food!

Without looking it up, what are the ingredients in eggnog?
GS:
Sugar, milk, and unicorn eggs.
KH: Gross, all kinds of gross.

Any idea how you will spend New Year’s Eve this year?
GS:
Hopefully in Maldives, hint hint Kyle.
KH: Definitely not in the Maldives, probably at home, hopefully with champagne.

If you could be any character from a holiday movie, who would you be and why?
GS:
I’d probably be that gay little dentist elf from the Rudolph claymation movie.
KH: Either Chip or Dale from Pluto’s Christmas Tree because as a kid I so wanted to be inside the tree like they were, surrounded by the lights and ornaments.

If you could plant a New Year’s kiss on your dream crush, who would that be and why?
GS:
Nick Jonas. I know it’s wrong. I can’t explain it.
KH: Chris Pratt and Tom Hardy because dream big, right?

What was your proudest moment from this past year?
GS:
My proudest moment was managing not to say “shit” on live television when we were promoting our book.
KH: Making the Sh*t Girls Say book.

What are you looking forward to most about 2013?
KH:
All the pizza I’m going to eat.
GS: Getting a cat.
