Recap: Rookie Fest at Space 15 Twenty
Last night in Los Angeles we partied with Rookie Mag at the Rookie Fest at Space 15 Twenty (1520 N. Cahuenga Blvd)! Let's just say that Rookie knows how to party. This time Editor-in-Chief Tavi Gevinson brought along some of the coolest people around for the special surprise guests. There were two Q+A sessions; the first with Rashida Jones, and the second was with super funny dude Bill Hader for the "Ask a Grown Man" portion.
After hearing advice from two of my favorite people ever, we danced, ate pizza, and made zines! As far as the special musical guest, we were treated to a performance by The Julie Ruin, whose members include founding members of Bikini Kill, Kathleen Hanna and Kathi Wilcox. Can you say...legends? Incredible. Read below for more photos of the well-dressed attendees, plus shots from the whole party! Special thanks to Space 15 Twenty, Rookie Mag, Clara Cakes for the incredible baked goods, and everyone who came out! —Maddie
Way cool Rookie fans arriving!
Next was the Q+A with Rashida Jones. Throughout the session, she kept wondering where she could get a flower crown, so this lovely girl to the right in the last photo donated hers to Rashida!
Bill Hader was so awesome, and gave some of the best, and funniest advice about boys, love, and all that fun stuff. He also did a very important "Stefon" impression, whom you may remember from Saturday Night Live.
Kate Nash came to hang out as well!
Pizza, cupcakes, candy, pals, and dancing, what more could you ask for?
Pretty sweet zines, yeah?
Lastly, The Julie Ruin rocked the hell out of us with a healthy set of their incredible songs, which you should all listen to, of course!
Notice the totally necessary mosh pit that started during the band's set!
Oh, Queen Kathleen!
We hope you all had fun at Rookie Fest!
