NYFW: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Another favorite of mine from New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014 was the graphic and downright adorable Marc by Marc Jacobs. For a while, I really wasn't feeling this line, but I feel like Marc Jacobs' teenage sister line is finally back on its feet. Marc Jacobs showed a fairly simple collection, but the styling was done to a T. The collection was a mix of perfectly put together graphic dresses, tops, and pants, plus silk suits and shift dresses that had a little bit of athleticism thrown in there towards the end. Everything looked like it could've come from your own closet at one point, which is something Marc always manages to pull off. This season, the clothes looked like they could've been from various eras, mainly the '70s and '80s.
Most of the pieces were made in pastel hues, along with a bit of punchy black, white, and red thrown in there, plus some sequins and metallic leather on some looks. He paired each relaxed look with a silk neck tie, and pair of sleek sneakers that really played into the athletic pieces mixed with regular clothes as of late. Super into it. On the boys that walked in his collection, there were several slick varsity jackets; one even had MJ monograms all over it. The last looks of the collections had some star and wing-like zig-zag motifs, which also play into that athletic trend that my mind is on. They make me think of cheerleading and gymnastics uniforms. I think Marc would make some pretty nice sports garb, don't you think? (Photos via Vogue.com) —Maddie
