The Greenwood Space Travel Supply Co. is the “faux” storefront that houses the Seattle outpost of Dave Eggers’ 826 Valencia project, a nonprofit writing and tutoring center dedicated to helping youth improve their creative writing skills. Eggers’ altruistic impulses don’t stop there: His latest book, What Is the What, is the novelized autobiography of Valentino Achak Deng, from his pre-war life in southern Sudan to his resettlement in the United States. All proceeds from the book go to aiding the Sudanese in America and Sudan.
