If you're always on the hunt for new music, head here every Monday for five freshly picked tunes to start your work week off right!

Glish - Stu Hunkington

Man, this is a killer tune. "Nugaze" is a perfect subgenre for this sound. This is excellent - it's high energy but not intrusive. Perfect.

Tycho has been taken to the wonderful guitar finger picking, bird chirping place of Bibio. The whole effect is very pleasant and relaxing. "Spectre (Bibio Remix)" is a good fall transition track (if we're there yet), and the subtle drum track is mesmerizing.

Psych indie rock might be leading the way as far as guitar music goes right now. This track has a feel good vibe and a lot of phasing; it's very enjoyable. Check out the other tracks from Swim Mountain here.

A gem from Secret Songs, that's been curated by a certain someone (Hems). This track is ethereal and has an interesting movement to it. It's incredibly slow, but maintains a good sway.

"Fantasia Arc" is calming, wonderful dream trap. Generally when you find an artist's Soundcloud and there are emojis in the track title, you know you're in for a treat. This appears to be a Sigur Ros track that has been spun into the abyss.

If you're always on the hunt for new music, head here every Monday for five freshly picked tunes to start your work week off right!

Dntel - If I Stay a Minute

Love this one. For those of you that don't know, there's a new Dntel record out September 23 on Leaving Records. Dntel is comprised of one of the founding members of Postal Service, Jimmy Tamborello, and if you haven't heard the Dntel song that spawned the Postal Service, check it out; it's groundbreaking.

Breathe Panel - On My Way
"On My Way" is a track from Breathe Panel, off of the Beech Coma Volume 2 Compilation. The compilation does a great job of keeping it uniform with this "beechy" indie-rock sound. This particular cut is one of the several gems on the comp.

Real Slow - Sad Kids
This one is just as the genre tags say: #Chill #Trap #Bass #Future.

Gold Panda - Clarke's Dream
Gold Panda with a new one here. Good hip-hop production vibe with the loops. This sound mixed with the hip-hop/house fusion is very rarely a let down. This one verifies that and will have your head nodding in no time.

LV & Josh Idehen - Shake
LV, the veteran Hyperdub duo, team up with Josh Idehen, the frontman of excellent afro-electro Benin City. This release, not unlike their collaboration with Okmalumkoolkat, features their classic Hyperdub dark club sound. The xylophone sound is killer.

If you're always on the hunt for new music, head here every Monday for five freshly picked tunes to start your work week off right!

Spooky Black - Pull (prod. Kid Hnrk)

There's a new Lil Spook/Spooky Black EP and it's terrific. Nice guitar RnB wonderfulness. Sadboys might be taking over the interwebs.

Kaytranada - Leave Me Alone (feat. Shay Lia)
Kay Kay is preparing his forthcoming EP for XL Recordings. This new single proves that he's still got the spark, with his classic acid/funk bass sounds and his choppy use of percussion. These always have such a nice "drop."

et aliae - never let u down
The online market has been saturated by cloud trap/chill step (or whatever you want to call it), but that doesn't change the fact that it's a nice style. We love all the new artists with their own take on the situation. Vibe out to this one and you'll make Hems proud. Solid, bouncy tune.

Tomorrows Tulips - Glued To You
Burger Records, or "Gem City" as I'm starting to call it, keeps putting out fantastic singles from fantastic artists. We love how consistent and carefree the label is.

R.L. Kelly - Alright
R.L. Kelly is super rad, and always has cute, simple tracks with really downer lyrics. This one is a great one, along with "Life's A Bummer."

Music Monday: August 11, 2014

If you're always on the hunt for new music, head here every Monday for five freshly picked tunes to start your work week off right!

Cloud Castle Lake - Sync

Awesome vibe here from the Dublin three-piece. With great percussion and great falsetto, this track is a refreshing take on that Sigur Ros sound. Cloud Castle Lake is gearing up to release their Dandelion EP out September 22 on Happy Valley Records.

SOPHIE - Hard
This is all over the place, but it's excellent. SOPHIE gives an interesting take on the UK bass sound with this B side. Make sure to check out Lemonade as well, the A side to this Numbers release.

LOUDS - Ways
Beach pop all summer long. This track is right in between a folk-pop track and a regular electro-pop track, which gives it a nice, personal sentiment, all topped off with video game 8-bit sounds. Giving me the Lust for Youth vibe, big time.

Mr. Twin Sister - Blush
Gorgeous RnB downtempo tune. Sade all over the place; anyone who knows and loves Rhye will be happy about this song. This has a Soulection touch to it, and a very nice production.

Black Honey - Teenager (Demo)
Do we all agree that this sounds a lot like Oasis? The singing is obviously different, but it has killer brit-pop all over it. Long live 1996! Lana Del Rey fans and brit-pop fans alike will enjoy this one.

If you're always on the hunt for new music, head here every Monday for five freshly picked tunes to start your work week off right!

Gap Dream - Strong Love

Burger Records strikes again with this killer beach tune. Washy and warm, this will help you forget that we're hitting August at rapid speed.

Twin Peaks - I Found A New Way
Great full-length out on Grand Jury. Super upbeat and punk-y but still glued together. This song is pretty awesome.

The Curse - Gatto Fritto
This International Feel compilation is full of Balearic goodies. What a wonderful compilation. We thank Mark Barrott and co. for this '80s Ibiza sunset music right here. Soak it up!

Knxwledge - Rownmywai[TWRK]_
So, we went from the original, great track Teedra Moses "Be Your Girl", to the reincarnated floor-filling masterpiece Kaytranada remix, to this chilled out number from the excellent and consistent Knxwledge. Head to his bandcamp or this pretty entertaining Boiler Room Breakfeast set.

HOMESHAKE - Cash Is Money
"Cash Is Money" has an interesting sound. The vocals are really pleasant, as is the groove. This is a winner, and we look forward to hearing more.

If you're always on the hunt for new music, head here every Monday for five freshly picked tunes to start your work week off right!

Francisco The Man - Progress

Super duper rad track. Summer, summer, summer. "Progress" is off the forthcoming debut LP Loose Ends coming in late September. Beach vibes, pre-game vibes... just all the vibes, really. The vocals are reminiscent of Beach House - amazing.

Hudson Mohawke - Chimes
Put on your trap hats, folks! It's gonna be a wild one.

Seekae - Test & Recognise (Flume Re-work)
Flume certainly has a way with re-works. This track is gorgeous. In usual Flume fashion, it's pretty and thumps at the same time. Australia, huh?

St. Tropez - Let Go
Has anyone ever seen one of the "I'd rather be yachting in St. Tropez" t-shirts? Because this is exactly how this song makes me feel. Wonderful pysch-pop here. These guys have been on the radar for a minute and this track is stepping it up a notch, for sure.

Benjamin Booker - Have You Seen My Son?
Straight up rock and roll right here. Solid tune, which looks to be the second from Benjamin, and we're looking forward to more. Rock and roll.

No more Monday morning excuses! Stop staring at the clock and start your work week out right with five hand-picked songs from our music stylist, Corbin, who wants to fill your brainwaves with summer-ready sounds and auditory illusions.

Tom Misch - Now

"Now" is a chill hip-hop track from Tom Misch, who is keeping it super real. All his stuff has been really good. This one has a Sohn vibe, but the beat of Apollo Brown. Incredible tune here.

Hotlane - Whenever (James Curd Remix)
"Whenever" is a poppy dance gem that brings you right back to that amazing 2006-2008 sound of pop vocals and glimmery '80s nu-disco. See: Russ Chimes, then and now. #tbt

Merle - Fannie Likes 2 Dance
This is one of those tracks where you almost can't tell whats going on, but you don't want it to stop. Very confused and very interested. Killer summer joint here.

Sinead Harnett - No Other Way (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)
No point in explaining this Hemsworth remix... just listen.

Los Angeles Police Department - She Came Through (Again)
Insanely chill track from the forthcoming debut LP from LAPD out in September. Beach vibes all over this one.

Music Monday: July 14, 2014

TRACK PREMIERE: Lyon & Lowe - Everyone Walks to the Beat of a Child

New track premiere (*airhorn*)! This is Lyon & Lowe's sophomore Music Monday appearance and it's a goodie. Head to Facebook to learn more about Lyon & Lowe. And if you head to their Soundcloud, you can get a free download of this track!

"Heaven" is a nice, chill, endearing track from No Rome. "Floralpunk" is the self-declared genre of No Rome, who hail from the Philippines. This one sounds like Ryan Hemsworth would like it a lot, because it's in the similar realm of RnB infused trap-pop. Great track regardless of the genre or scene.

If this is a demo, I'm especially interested in listening to the studio version. This is that classic, Prince-y poppy funk stuff. This one has a nice summery vibe - good for a funky beach trip for sure.

"Time" has been floating around the interwebs for some time now (no pun intended). It was played on a Boiler Room set that left everyone wondering when and where this track would be released. Turns out it was the great Will Saul, Aus Music head, who recently included it exclusively on his DJ-Kicks. Thanks, Will.

Solid tune from what appears to be a brand new band, Soph Nathan. This is a killer chill indie track. Listen if you like: Beach Fossils, and other awesome shoe-gaze bands.

Music Monday: July 7, 2014

No more Monday morning excuses! Stop staring at the clock and start your work week out right with five hand-picked songs from our music stylist, Corbin, who wants to fill your brainwaves with summer-ready sounds and auditory illusions.

The Hellen Hollins Singers - Consolation (Nicolas Jaar Edit)

Well, this is amazing. We're sorry Chile lost, but this edit is out of this world. This is a bit unusual for Jaar since it's a little more straightforward, but we'll take it.

Lil Silva - Mabel
"Mabel" is a great new song from Lil Silva. Coming from his forthcoming Mabel EP, it has a nice SBTRKT RnB/house vibe going on, and the EP will also include vocals from Banks, which is something we're so looking forward to.

Eno & Hyde - DBF
Well, this second Eno & Hyde release is just as impressive as the first one. "DBF" has a stuttering, hip-shaking groove, which we love. It's kind of like a mix between James Brown and Talking Heads. This track really stays moving.

Naomi Punk - Firehose Face
Summer and punk seem to go hand in hand. "Firehose Face" is taken from Naomi Punk's self-titled sophomore release out in August. This is really throwing us back to Wavves "King of the Beach."

Alex Burkat - Shower Scene
"Shower Scene" is one of the many great tunes on the new Mister Saturday Night compilation. This one has an eerie but happy mood. Really interesting stuff, and we're assuming it's pulling its name from the water/shower sound, and the fact that it's slightly reminiscent of the Psycho shower scene music.

Music Monday: June 30, 2014

No more Monday morning excuses! Stop staring at the clock and start your work week out right with five hand-picked songs from our music stylist, Corbin, who wants to fill your brainwaves with summer-ready sounds and auditory illusions.

Museum of Love - In Infancy

Two of DFA Records' staple artists, Jee Day and Pat Mahoney, have teamed up to give us this incredible new tune. Really well-done classic sound here; it's reminiscent of New Order, Friendly Fires, and it's all driven through that amazing DFA tunnel. Their self-titled debut LP comes out in August.

Rustie - Raptor
Rustie is back, and "Raptor" is a surefire way to announce it. Their album Green Language is out August 25 via Warp and you can head over to Pitchfork to see the tour dates.

Painted Palms - Hypnotic (Saint Pepsi Remix)
Great remix of this Painted Palms track. Saint Pepsi has really made a name for himself at this point and the tracks continue to improve consistently. Check out the original song which is good in a completely different way.

Camp Claude - Camp
The first thing that grabs my attention here is the super Joy Division-sounding bass. The chugging instrumentation mixed with the whispery vocals make this a great jam.

Clap! Clap! - The Rainstick Fable
Oh man. African Poly-Rythmo with a footwork beat behind it! Badman tune!

Music Monday: June 23, 2014

Nao vs. A. K. Paul – So Good

Apparently this is Jai Paul's brother. We'll take it, though, since at least it's in the same realm as the ever elusive Jai. This is a jam, and boy, are we looking forward to Jai Paul's Debut LP.

MCFERRDOG – I Wanna See

This is a Monday kickstart, for sure. House beats, great textures and vocal pitching. All around big tune here. 1080p never disappoints.

Seiho – Plastic

Seiho with a wild one here. Many surprises in this track, and to really seal the song is the Lyn Collins sample. Listen if you're into: Sophie, Night Slugs, Fade to Mind.

Sad Actor – Cringe

Wonderful nostalgic chugger from Sad Actor. This is from Sad Actor's debut EP, but they are working on releasing their debut LP this fall. It's very reminiscent of Russian Circles, older Mogwai, and that post-rock instrumental sound.

Darkly – Animated Space Debris

Great summery lo-fi pop track from Darkly. The atmosphere and vocal style really makes me think of Niva. All the Darkly stuff is good, as per the case with Swedish artists.

Music Monday: June 16, 2014

No more Monday morning excuses! Stop staring at the clock and start your work week out right with five hand-picked songs from our music stylist, Corbin, who wants to fill your brainwaves with summer-ready sounds and auditory illusions.

TV Girl - Louise

This is an excellent indie-pop track from TV Girl. It's very jolly and inviting all around, almost anthemic. This one is sure to lock in your head all week.

Bones – IfYouHadAZuneIHateYou (feat. Spooky Black)

Except for the insane yell at the end of the track, this tune is Spooky Black all the way. Head to TeamSESH for the whole Bones mixtape, and go here to check out the first Spooky Black Music Monday track. (That yell at the end is very real, and all of us that have used a Zune can relate.)

Christian Rich – Better To (feat. DWNTWN)

It's always been a bit of an enigma how game-changing choirs are. This is a perfect example of that. What a killer dance pop tune here from the duo Christian Rich.

Kolsch – Cassiopeia

Some sunset house here. Kolsch had the incredible 1977 LP last year, and this release we should see in full June 30th from Kompakt.

Baby Guru – Anticipation (Larry Gus Remix)

This track is interesting and kind of goes all over the place. It's synthy, but then hits these strange patches of funk. Listen if you like: Studio, Air France, Lust For Youth.

Sol Monk - Ata

This is a cut off Sol Monk's forthcoming Beats, Not Words LP dropping June 23. It's got an interesting lo-fi approach. Plus, it's super rhythmic and the interesting vocal sample helps carry it through. It definitely has a nice rawness to it.

Caribou - Can't Do Without You
Well, Caribou is back, and in a big way. It's amazing to me how this track can begin sounding like it's going to be a regular deep-house pitched vocal track, and then rises into this staple Caribou retro '60s vibe. By the end you're hypnotized by the glimmery synths, live drums and soft vocals.

Balue - Grow Up
This track makes me visualize a beach montage. This is a great bedroom/beach pop song from Balue's Quiet Dreamer LP out June 24 on cassette and digital. Listening to a cassette tape of this while driving to the beach doesn't sound half bad at all.

A.G.Cook - Beautiful
This is from the PC Music label, which never seems to disappoint. Rave is clearly having a resurgence. If you like this track, check out Unicorn Kid, among many other emerging acts.

Francois & The Atlas Mountains - The Way To The Forest (Ibibio Sound Machine Remix)
"Graceland," anyone? What a killer track. Piano Ombre is out now, and all summery.

Jaws - Be Slowly

This is the title track for the forthcoming Jaws debut out on July 7. This song is wispy chillwave meets shoegaze meets terrific. This reminds me a lot of "Space Age Love Song."

Youandewan - FM Jam
This is a new one from Will Saul's wonderfully consistent Aus label; it's moody but still open-air friendly. There's also a pretty killer remix by Andrés

Zeds Dead - Lost You (feat. Twin Shadow & D'Angelo Lacy)
Pretty self-explanatory after reading the title. (Is this the first Twin Shadow deep house track?) This Zeds Dead record sounds like it's coming together really well. Can't wait to hear more.

Sleep Party People - Floating Blood Of Mine
Scandinavia is at it again. What a super relaxing (but still midly upbeat) track. There's even an Air France-y movie sample towards the end.

Nadus - Nxwxrk
This sound is becoming super duper popular, and we totally love it. Nadus is a new name on the Rnb/Trap/Synth scene and we can't wait to hear more from this one as well.

DJ Dodger Stadium - Love Songs

Pretty amazing new track from Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy on their Body High label. This is one track from the forthcoming debut LP Friend Of Mine. Really looking forward to this LP if it's full of this ravey-house goodness. The video for this track is also pretty neat.

Bloom - Daydream
This is the first (!) track from Bloom and it is great. The band is from Winchester/London,  and the production is pretty spot on for this kind of sound; it's got that chill energy we are all looking for.

Lyon & Lowe - Like Oedipus
This is reminiscent of Postal Service in more ways than one. Nice indie electronic stuff here. Love Our Records says an EP is coming mid-summer, which should be spot on for the heat and the long nights.

Kyle Kimono - Sauna
These nimble sounding indie tracks with perfect vocal placement drenched in reverb all get a big thumbs up. Recommended if you like: Beach Fossils, Real Estate, Wild Nothing.

Lido - Money
Do yourself and everyone else around you a favor and listen to this. Oslo, Norway gets really cold in the winter, so it sounds like they're taking advantage of the warm weather.

Daniel Avery - Knowing We'll Be Here (KiNK Remix)

Giant floor filler. And some great *airhorn.

Horse Party - Inbetween
This is a great indie track from Horse Party. This has the grittiness of the likes of Cloud Nothings while still having a cool '90s nod to somber/emo vocals. Some parts are even like Dinosaur Jr. Check out "Inbetween" on the forthcoming debut LP Close My Eyes via Integrity.

Knox Brown - Harry's Code
Amazing authentic soul sound from Knox Brown. The rawness is reminiscent of another soul revivalist Benjamin Clementine

Bok Bok - Da Foxtrot
Bok Bok has recently been releasing quite a few killer tracks. Nice deep electro, but still with an organic funk feeling.

CFCF - Windswept
This kind of sounds like Peter Gabriel, in a good way. CFCF has so many releases that it's hard to keep up with him. Good work here, though, because this is an epic downtempo tune.

PREMIERE: Cheerleader - Waiting, Waiting

Today we are excited to introduce the B-side for the upcoming 7" from hazy electro-pop quintet Cheerleader. The Philadelphia band’s first official single is out June 16 on limited edition vinyl via Young & Lost/Bright Antenna in the UK. Pre-order the vinyl here or head over to iTunes for immediate download.

Steve Sobs - Ugh
Really terrific morning tune here from Steve Sobs. "Ugh" is from Steve Sobs' forthcoming LP Heavy Heart. Really into hearing more of this. If you enjoy this track, also try out the new Oliver Wilde.

Thunderhank - Flat Rock
Super great EP from Thunderhank. This whole EP has a nice, updated mix of nostalgia and chill wave. Head over to their Bandcamp and check this EP out.

Francis Inferno Orchestra - Ellingfort Road
Australia strikes again. This is the second great track from Francis Inferno Orchestra that I've had the pleasure of hearing.

Donovan Blanc - Hungry A Long Time
These retro sounding sing-a-long type tracks are always fun to find. There's some good vibes here from this one forthcoming on Captured Tracks. If you're into Ariel Pink, or any of the Ariel Pink affiliates, this is a good one.

HOWLS - 004 w/ Noah Breakfast

Killer new track from Ta-ku & Kit Pop under HOWLS. This is the fourth installment in the HOWLS series, and this one takes a straight-forward approach to trap instrumental.

Wonderful dream-pop track from Blood Cultures. This track has that great bedroom lo-fi muffle. Makes me think of "Anthems of a Seventeen Year Old Girl".

Taken from Total Control's second LP Typical System, out via Iron Lung on June 24. Looking forward to this LP.

This remix of Stockholm's Colleagues really puts the original over the edge and into wonderful synth-dance pop. Perfect summer night tune right here.

This is a giant remix from Pomo. This sound has such a bop to it. Really reminiscent of Kaytranada's new sound. As much of this sound as possible, please!

DJ Rashad - Somethin' Bout The Things U Do (ft. Gant Man)
In honor of DJ Rashad, who unfortunately passed away this weekend, here's an incredible song from his newest EP.

Doss - Here Tonight
A dreamy new EP from Doss is out tomorrow via Acéphale. Check out a really standout remix of Doss here.

Alvvays - Archie, Marry Me
Here's a really nice shoegaze/indie track from Alvvays. This track sounds like it stepped straight out of Empire Records. Like seriously. We'll be looking forward to more from Alvvays.

tshima - Bird (ft. Nick Risola)
This one from tshima is super dope and very reminiscent of The Range. There are a bunch more killer tracks available from tshima over on their Soundcloud

Pizza Boys - Sharing
Pizza Boys appear to only have two tracks available right now, but they're both awesome. If you are into Beach Fossils or Slowdive, definitely check out Pizza Boys.

Hermitude - Ukiyo
I hope this track is one of many new Hermitude tracks coming out for the summer. If you haven't checked out the Hermitude Boiler Room session, head over here to give it a watch.

NAAVI - Speak
It's always nice to hear a chill-wave song that brings you back to the glorious times of Life of Leisure and early Toro.

VEYU - The Everlasting
VEYU are a good example of what a Local Natives vibe can sound like when paired with a groovier beat. This track keeps it moving in a good way.

Holy Models - Des Tropiques (Island Demo)
We're really going in on smooth summer jams this Monday, especially with this Holy Models tune. Check out some of their other songs on Soundcloud.

Bipolar Sunshine - Where Did The Love Go (A-Minor Remix)
Full of NRG. This is like Friday wrapped up in a four minute remix.
