From Stockholm 06/05/09Just My Type Fonts permalinkForm Conspiracy’s Just My Type project is updated periodically and presents a small archive of super stylish high-end fonts for free. We bet it’s a lot easier to find something you like on here than on Nerve.com

From Stockholm 05/11/09Permanent Vacation permalinkDesign collective Permanent Vacation has an office on the third-longest street on the west coast of Sweden, and it’s decor was inspired by an R.Kelly song. One of their many projects is a beautiful fashion collection that, fortunately, doesn’t appear to be R.Kelly-inspired. |
From Stockholm 03/09/09Urban Camouflage permalinkUrban Camouflage illustrates how to make a trip to Ikea a little less mind-numbing. |
From Stockholm 02/20/09Beata Boucht permalinkBeata Boucht‘s work includes these paper-doll-esque illustrations, which are a lot cooler than anything we had growing up.

From Stockholm 02/03/09Lisa Bengtsson permalinkLisa Bengtsson‘s designs show up on everything from paper to pillows and plates, and we particularly like this rich, trippy wallpaper.

From Stockholm 01/13/09Åsa Jungnelius permalinkArtist Åsa Jungnelius creates stereotypical feminine and feminist objects out of sculpted glass—from fairy tale slippers, realistic bottles of nail polish and tubes of lipstick to giant diamond-studded dildos. As the artist statement on her website says, “Her craft revolves around aesthetic hierarchies, shifts of value, bling-bling, fashion, shopping, and the social construction of gender roles.” Well done. |

Let The Right One In permalinkLet The Right One in, the Swedish answer to Twilight, opens in more select theaters this weekend. Just listening to the trailer—rife with the sound of flesh-crunching bites and sloppy blood slurping—is enough to make you want to start stockpiling garlic and silver bullets. Chilly. |

Acne Bianchi Bicycles permalinkWe would be really happy if we woke up on December 25th and there was one of these stuffed in our stocking. We’d also really wonder how Santa did it. (Via Scout Holiday.) |

From Stockholm 11/04/08Sandra Backlund permalinkSandra Backlund’s anthropomorphic knitwear looks like it could swallow you in one gulp, and by calling her collection “Last Breath Bruises,” she implies that it could, too. |
From Stockholm 10/09/08Zip Holder permalinkWe’re all familiar with that moment of panic – “Oh no, how long have I been walking around with my fly down?” Well, fear no more as the Zip Holder has come to our rescue. This handy little contraption affixes to the tag on your zipper and around the button on your fly, invisibly providing all the security you’ll ever need. You’ll never again hear the most dreaded letters in the English language - XYZPDQ. |
From Stockholm 09/29/08Christina Drejenstam permalinkI have such a fascination with Pompadours in fashion and this drawing from artist Christina Drejenstam is one of my favorite renderings of the iconic pomp. |
From Stockholm 09/17/08Gram Footwear permalinkThese shoes from Gram are so completely rad with all their little details. The cool thing with Gram is that that no matter what pair and style you like, there is a wide variety of colors and patterns to choose from, which may make you want to pick up a couple pairs at a time to compliment everything you own. |
From Stockholm 07/03/08Elisabeth Moch permalinkEven though it’s many years after the fact, these Elisabeth Moch pin-ups have us thinking of Jeff Mangum’s “Oh Comely”. (Via The Style Press.)

From Stockholm 04/15/08OWL permalinkOWL contain many trifectas of greatness. Three cute girls: Anna, Milou & Fan Fan. Three descriptions of what they sound like (taken from their MySpace): Heartache/Heart break/Frail hope. And three, well, five influences: The Jesus & Mary Chains/My Bloody Valentine/New Order/Suicide/Mazzy Star. It’s safe to say that they had us with their picture, but their shoegazey, vocals-buried-in-the-mix, sortakinda japanese pop is what sealed the deal.

From Stockholm 03/21/08Camilla Engman permalinkCamilla Engman grew up in a small Swedish town called Trollhättan, which sort of sounds like a magical Manhattan-like place inhabited by busy trolls - just sayin’. Cultural considerations aside, Engman’s eye for little details is something to admire.

You type in words or phrases and the “choir” will sing, depending on the sentiment of what you’ve typed. All of this is viewed live on the web via 4 webcams. Next level. (Via VLU.) |

Cheap Monday Expands permalinkEveryone has a pair of their jeans and now that they’re expanding with winter jackets, pvc pants and a wide variety of cuts and colors in their newest collection, Cheap Monday are definitely on a roll. That’s why I find this interview of theirs so interesting to watch as they detail exactly how they first got started and describe how far they’ve come from just a shop their friends would frequent for a quick denim fix. |
