WAFA Collective
WAFA stands for "We Are Fucking Awesome," and this loose, international collective of artists is not overstating it.

MacKenzie from Where Is the Hombrellah? sent us these awesome photos of how she re-used our catalogs. So awesome, and what a great idea for wrapping Valentine's gifts! Many thanks, MacKenzie.
The World Is Saved—a starry-eyed new book of photography from Jeff Luker.
Sushi that even the pickiest eater can get behind. What it lacks in vitamins it makes up for in geometrical splendor, wouldn't you say?

A semi-annual audio magazine that's hand-letterpressed and hand-folded, The Journal of Popular Noise just released its latest copy, which features recordings from Foscil's residency at the BLVD Gallery in Seattle.
It's been said that you're not a true candy lover unless you can stomach a pound of candy corn. Why not experiment with this recipe for the homemade version and see what happens?

Magnet Games makes all sorts of glorious things—like these pimp glasses and Super Mario Bros.—out of arts and crafts classic perler beads. It's like a nostalgic's dream come true.
Diem Chau's work makes us happy that someone is recognizing crayons for all the artistic potential that they hold.
If you're out strolling around the Capitol Hill Block Party this weekend (and let's face it, you should be), stop by the Urban Outfitters tent, where artist Greg "Pnut" Galinsky will be customizing Vans from 2-7pm. They have to be new ones though, that you just bought. He doesn't want to touch your janky old sneakers.
Hometown favorite Jesy Fortino, aka Tiny Vipers, brings her witchy, organic, Laura Palmer sounds to hometown favorite venue Wall of Sound tonight.
The Capitol Hill Block Party is Seattle's biggest summertime music event, with 50 bands on three stages during two days. This year's lineup includes Sonic Youth, The Gossip, Deerhunter, Micachu & The Shapes, and the Pains at Being Pure at Heart. And guess where you can get tickets! Give up? Ok, at all Seattle Urban Outfitters! Go! Go!
Jesse Brown and Aaron Harris's two-person show at Cairo Gallery offers more than just a great name.
Introducing Archie McPhee's bacon-scented bacon-print tuxedo. This suit will get you mad bitches—of the canine variety, that is.
Together, DJ Gajamagic, Pearl Dragon and Thomas Gray are Champagne Champagne, an hip-hop/whatever they wanna do group that keeps it poppin' better than a bottle of André Cold Duck. Be sure to check out "Molly Ringwald," a love song about a girl who looks like, well, Molly Ringwald.
You don't get this at the dollar store: Now just $.99 at Insound, Free Yr Radio's 2008 Benefit Compilation, featuring 12 exclusive tracks from the likes of Chairlift, Yeasayer, No Age, White Williams and Dan Deacon.
Though best known for his cardboard sneakers, the rest of artist Mike Leavitt's work is just as jaw-dropping, like hand-sculpted synthetic polymer clay action figures, painted pennys, and turtles created from salvaged road debris. Much of it, like this Kermit the Frog painted on a found guitar pick, is for sale at a pretty reasonable price. It's the perfect present for the art-, recycling- and Muppets-loving guitar player in your life.
This Friday and Saturday we're sponsoring Seattle's 2-day music megablast known as the Capitol Hill Block Party. Umpteen bands are playing with big boys like Vampire Weekend (above), Les Savy Fav, Hold Steady, and Chromeo sharing four stages with local acts like U.S.E., Fleet Foxes, Throw Me the Statue, and tons more. It all kicks off at 4 pm today and tickets (sans service charge!) are on sale for $18/per day at each of our 4 Seattle stores. Art lovers bonus: From 2-7pm on Saturday, Greg "Pnut" Galinsky will be at our 4518 University Way NE location painting custom Vans slip-ons. It's first come, first served with a minimum $10 donation that'll be split between the two charities the Block Party is supporting: VERA Seattle and Home Alive.
Mudhoney came just as strong as they did in their 1990 heyday and when they played their FreeYrRadio show at KEXP on July 23. (More pix here. Donate to KEXP.)
We're pretty much into any band that sings about fruit snacks and describes themselves as "a delicious explosion of freak-dance fruit pie". Natalie Portman's Shaved Head are on a mission to make the booty bounce and CSS asked them to open up for them on tour so you know they've got that magic stuff.
