From Stockholm 07/03/08Elisabeth Moch permalinkEven though it’s many years after the fact, these Elisabeth Moch pin-ups have us thinking of Jeff Mangum’s “Oh Comely”. (Via The Style Press.)

From DC 07/03/08Knit Nite at Redeem permalinkThe Cut Copy and Ladytron afterparties at Redeem are now-legendary, and tonight, July 3, marks yet another opportunity to spend quality time at the 14th St. boutique. Their monthly “Knit Nite” runs from 6:30 to 8:30 - may we suggest a stop at Stitch DC beforehand for supplies?

From Los Angeles 07/02/08Whitehorse Couture permalinkWhitehorse Couture are back with another perfect beach-living fairytale inspired Fall collection. I’m loving the new designs and can’t wait to see what’s next. Keep up with the blog to see their travels, trunk shows and cute dogs. |
From Elsewhere 07/02/08Jen Renninger permalinkIf you’ve read our blog for any amount of time you know we’re suckers for hopeful, uplifting, and slightly cosmic prints. Jen Renninger delivers on all fronts with this one. (Via Bloesem.)

From Philadelphia 07/02/08Bert Lorenzo for FMW permalinkBert Lorenzo sounds like a mob dude’s alias but it’s really a new, one-of-a-kind men’s and women’s wovens collection put together in conjunction with the Fresh Melt Water famiglia. Each piece in the collection is a unique, lived-in garment that’s been overdyed and altered for living easy. They are introducing their Summer ‘08 line, as well as a site-specific window installation, at Pedestrian (526 S. Third St. between Makos and S&J Cigar Shop) this Friday from 8p-12a. |
From Elsewhere 07/01/08Freeman Transport permalinkWe think it’s best to leave the describing to the folks at Freeman Transport: “We are hand-building bikes here in Missoula, Montana. All steel with S and S couplings. The frames break in half and fit into a bag. They can be checked on airplanes with no extra charge. One simple tool to put them back together. Ride to and from the airport. Right now we are only making fixed gears. No brakes, No cables, No mess. Bikes will come with a bag for travel. We’ll also make some product. Bikes should drop in June.” Keep an eye out people. |
From London 06/30/08Sophie Hulme permalinkI’ve seriously never seen sequins look as good as they do on Sophie Hulme’s elaborate designs. I’d be completely content with wearing this full getup all the time like it was no big deal. |

From Vancouver 06/30/08Sonja Ahlers permalinkWe often find stuff online that is “cute enough to eat”. These peanut bunnies by Sonja Ahlers are the physical manifestation of that phrase. (Via Please Be Still.)

From Australia 06/26/08Chronicles Of Never permalinkGareth Moody, who helped to found Ksubi, has gone out on his own with Chronicles Of Never. He started out making some of the most amazing jewelry and has recently begun creating some wonderful clothing as well. Chronicles Of Never is sure to be nestled up to your Ksubi jeans in no time. |
From Philadelphia 06/26/08Paine’s Park Benefit - This Sat! permalinkThis Saturday nite our humble cafeteria, Building 543 in the Navy Yard, will be transformed to host Paine’s World, a benefit party we’re hosting to help support the Franklin’s Paine Skatepark Fund in its mission to build Paine’s Park, a 2.5 acre skatepark in Center City Philadelphia. There will be artwork from some of the Space 1026 crew, a ramp, demo action from the Nocturnal heads, food, drinks and performances by The Yah Mos Def, Broadzilla, Brendan Bring ‘Em and Rock Tits! You can get tix at the door or at one of our Philly locations. Tix are $22 online, $20 in the stores and you gotta be 21 (with ID) to get in. For more details and info on how to get here on the yellow bus, click here.

From Japan 06/26/08“Reversible Destiny” Lofts permalinkBuilt by a pair of artist/architects who believe that “It’s immoral that people have to die”, these reversible destiny lofts are intended to outlaw aging and it’s consequences. It wasn’t our intention to get super deep here...we like ‘em for their whimsy quotient and their colorful exterior. (Via treehugger.) |
From Elsewhere 06/26/08Tooth Artist permalinkCreepy...yet somehow amazing at the same time. Sayeth the Tooth Artist: “These tattoos are maybe considered a white collar tattoo. They are seen only when the person that has one wants to share what they have, by pulling their cheek out so it could be seen.” Nicely done. We want to know who commissioned the Amy Winehouse tooth. |
From London 06/25/08Solange Azagury-Partridge permalinkRefinery 29 has a wonderful interview with It-Girl Daisy Lowe and I have to say one of my favorite parts of her summer wardrobe is this amazing Solange Azagury-Partridge fringe ring! |
From Elsewhere 06/25/08Nerd Watch Museum permalinkThis Nerd Watch Museum is deep. It’s like take a 3 hour lunch deep. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. |
From Los Angeles 06/25/08Fridays Off The 405 permalinkFOUOB (Friend of the UO Blog) DJ King Shade just let us know that he’ll be spinning 45s at The Getty’s Summer weekly this Friday nite, June 27. Do yourself a favor and get there. If King Shade has his way you’ll get schooled in the ways of 80s dancehall and new Sub Pop noise duo No Age are also bringing their noisy ruckus to the bill. The event is free and starts at 6pm. You can’t miss. |
From Elsewhere 06/23/08!!! In-Store Performance permalinkThere is no need, we repeat, no need to question whether Columbus, OH knows how to shake it’s ass. When !!! hit the stage at our Columbus store, people got freakier than a P-Funk show. This is yet another reason why you need to get thee to one of the FreeYrRadio in stores this Summer. This event was hosted by the internet-only Ohio.fm, a small station of do-gooders who bring it to you raw and uncut from the Ohio State campus. (Donate to Ohio.fm.) |
From New York 06/19/08Spring & Clifton permalinkPretty obsessed with Spring & Clifton right now. Their racerback with mesh bra is already a staple this summer for a few girls I know and it’s obvious why. What’s also cool is they keep a daily blog full of the things they find inspirational, check it out for sure. |
From London 06/19/08Felt Nerd Glasses permalinkOk, these felt nerd glasses are genius. Can’t say that we’ve seen something this rad from the felting set ever. They’re made by an English lass named Laura, who goes by Lupin and you can find more of her felty goodness (disguises, brooches, pins and suchlike) over on Etsy. (Via Craft:blog.)

From Philadelphia 06/19/08UO’s DIY Flickr Pool permalinkIf there’s one thing we know, it’s that our readers can get their craft on with the best of them. With that in mind we set up a new DIY Flickr Pool so we can see how you turn this into that. And as a bonus, we put together a nice little “How-To” that shows you 8 different ways to make tapestry magic. Download the PDF.

From DC 06/19/08Hirshhorn After Hours permalinkHirshhorn After Hours is this Friday, June 20, from 8pm to midnight. Just ten bucks in advance for the bumpingest museum party you’ve ever been to (and your last chance to catch DJ People’s Champion before he jetsets out of DC); the night is notorious for selling out early so don’t say we didn’t warn you. |
From Elsewhere 06/18/08Greece Is For Lovers permalinkThis skateboard with built in gladiator flats is good in theory but I don’t think you’d want to show up at your local skatepark with it. Greece Is For Lovers are claiming you could pose it ‘til you make it, which goes to say you could take some great photos with this strapped to your feet.

From Portland 06/18/08Chloé Richard permalinkWhether you’re an average Joe just hanging out or some dancefloor gods like the dudes from Justice (above), it seems like if you are out in Portland at night you’re probably gonna end up in front of Chloé Richard’s camera. |
From San Francisco 06/18/08Jeff Canham permalinkWe’ve loved Jeff Canham’s bold, whimsical and signpainterly work for a good while now. Thanks to The Serif for jogging our memory. And make sure to check out the actual sign painting section of Jeff’s site. Clean and mean.
