Confessions of a Bookplate Junkie is exactly what it sounds like: miles and miles of vintage book plates— some of them hand-colored and hand-lettered, all of them exquisite. This is one tradition worth reviving.

Tomorrow night, a new Urban Outfitters opens in Allston at 226 Harvard Ave. How do we celebrate? With a party, of course. Come by between 6-8pm to catch a live DJ set by Taylor Walker and a performance by The Appreciation Post (above). Ten percent of the profits from opening weekend benefit the Coolidge Corner Theater, Boston's famed indie movie house.
According to the artist, Martha Lewis's paintings deal with bacterial systematics, gene expression, seed development, hybridization, the tropical stratosphere and liquidity. May we also add: lollipops!

In an abandoned school, British theatre company Punchdrunk has set up Sleep No More, an interactive installation that's a classic Shakespearean tale (MacBeth) told through the lens of a Hitchcock movie. It comes with a warning that the production contains both strobe lights and nudity, so we're totally sold.
LightLane was developed by designers at Altitude to encourage commuting by bike. The device attaches to the back of your bike frame and an illuminated bike lane appears instantly. Although the LightLane isn't available to the public just yet, this product will give bikers the space they need on those all too many roads without bike lanes.
Sunglasses are a must for summer (um, and for hangovers) and we're digging these over-sized shades by Kayu. The frames are handcrafted from sustainable bamboo, and for each pair purchased, Kayu donates $50 to help fund a sight-restoring surgery in the developing world.
