Heide Museum of Modern Art is a magic sort of landscape on the outskirts of Melbourne's inner suburbs. The one time farmhouse and lofty artist commune opened as a public gallery and space in the late 1980s and features regular exhibitions, a bustling art shop and breezy cafe. Showing until October 31, Up Close focuses on the work of Australian photographer Carol Jerrems (1949-1980) and situates her images against photographers from the same era, including Larry Clark, Nan Goldin and William Yang. If you are anywhere near Melbourne you owe it to yourself to get to Heide and see this. - Nadia
